Trump’s wish failed once again, Nobel Peace Prize goes to South African female lawyer, New US sanctions on Iranian oil trade

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sweden has announced the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, and US President Donald Trump’s wish could not be fulfilled this time either.

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to South African human rights lawyer Navanitham Navi Pillay.

According to the Nobel Committee, Navanitham Navi Pillay is being awarded the Nobel Prize for the promotion of peace and international law.

Born in 1941 in the South African city of Durban, Navanitham Navi Pillay belongs to a family of Indian origin.

She grew up in South Africa, facing apartheid, and was one of the first Indian-origin women in South Africa to study law.

She continued to defend anti-apartheid activists in court and fought against poor prison conditions.

After the fall of South Africa’s apartheid regime, she became a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, where she made history by making sexual violence a war crime.

Later, from 2008 to 2014, she served as the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations, and was recently appointed as the head of the UN Commission on Human Rights in Gaza and Israel.

It should be noted that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to the person who has done the most or the best work to increase cooperation between countries, eliminate or reduce standing armies, and establish and promote peace.

The Nobel Prize is given in memory of Swedish businessman Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite.

He donated almost all of his assets to a fund to award these prizes, and the Nobel Prizes were first awarded in 1901.

US President Donald Trump has been expressing his desire to win the Nobel Prize for the past two years, but like last year, he did not receive this honor this time either.

Along with various countries, Pakistan also nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
